Wang Yu, Party Secretary and Executive Vice President of the BPAFFC, met with Kim Joong-hyun, Director of the Namwon National Gugak Center of Korea, on August 17.

Wang Yu introduced the new progress and achievements in strengthening Beijing’s role as the four centers (the national political center, cultural center, center for international exchanges, and center for scientific discovery and technological innovation). He reviewed the journey of people‑to‑people exchanges with Korean friendship organizations, and expressed appreciation for the significant contributions Director Kim Joong‑hyun has made over the years to promoting exchanges between China and Korea in the fields of culture, arts, youth, and beyond. Wang noted that as the national cultural center and innovation center, Beijing boasts profound expertise in protecting and keeping alive historical and cultural heritage, as well as in creative evolution and development of traditional culture. Meanwhile, the city enjoys unique resource endowments and a first-mover advantage in leveraging artificial intelligence to drive the digital upgrading of the cultural sector. He proposed that the two sides jointly explore ways to translate their respective cultural strengths into tangible outcomes of exchange, thereby advancing pragmatic cooperation across multiple fields in both depth and substance.

Kim Joong‑hyun thanked the BPAFFC for its warm hospitality and amiable support for the visit to the Zhongguancun Exhibition Center. He introduced that the Namwon National Gugak Center is located in Namwon, a renowned tourist destination home to rich cultural heritage including the Chunhyang Festival and Korean traditional music (Gugak). The city has partnered with the Center in recent years to advance the digital transformation of its traditional cultural and artistic content. He hoped that this visit would serve as an opportunity to deepen cooperation and foster partnerships in areas such as innovative development of distinctive cultural elements, industrial cooperation, and youth exchanges, so as to better benefit the people of both regions.

The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on topics such as strengthening friendship and exchanges moving forward.

Jiao Yutong, Vice President of BPAFFC, was also present at the event.
