On August 10, BPAFFC organized a youth rhythmic gymnastics exchange program at Beijing’s Shougang Park, bringing together athletes from Aurora International Sports Training Center and the Oregon Rhythmic Gymnastics and Dance Academy of the United States.
The event opened with a joint training session guided by coaches from both sides, covering posture, body waves, and apparatus manipulation. During the performances, Chinese gymnasts presented intricate spins and balance routines infused with Eastern rhythm, while American athletes demonstrated exceptional athleticism and artistry well married in expressive choreography. The young athletes from both countries inspired each other through exchange, earning warm applause from the audience. Their hearts got connected by rhythmic gymnastics, a blend of power and beauty.
Beyond athletics, the delegation experienced local intangible cultural heritage through a live demonstration of Shaolin Bafa Quan (Eight Methods Fist) performed by Shijingshan youngsters. Their powerful, vigorous moves won a lot of applause from the audience. Guided by a veteran martial arts instructor, U.S. gymnasts practiced classic kung fu movements, gaining firsthand insight into traditional Chinese culture.
The U.S. delegation also toured Big Air Shougang and other landmarks, and immersed themselves in the commercial buzz and cultural creativity of the Yongding River Market at Shougang Park. The delegation was deeply impressed by the ingenious integration of modern design, industrial heritage, and natural landscapes, witnessing firsthand Beijing’s sustainable post-Olympic heritage utilization and urban renewal.
