On June 24, at the Đại Nam Theatre in Hanoi, an evening gala was kicked off with the traditional Vietnamese folk song and dance “Guests Come to My Home” to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Friendship City relationship between Hanoi and Beijing。 The event was jointly held by the Beijing Peoples’ Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (the BPAFFC), the Shijingshan District Government and the Foreign Affairs Committee of Hanoi City.
Yu Luming, head of the Beijing Municipal Government delegation and vice chairman of Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, said in his speech for the show that art tied the two peoples closer, and the performances would promote the friendship exchanges to a new level and write a new chapter of cooperation between the two cities.
Vice Chairman Ngo Van Quy of the Hanoi City People’s Committee thanked the delegates and performers who came from Beijing, praised the continuous exchanges between the two cities over the past 25 years and looked forward to more in-depth cooperation between the two sides in the future.
Performances of Kunqu Opera, Peking Opera, traditional Chinese music and dance given by the Shijingshan Cultural Center, as well as Hanoi's intangible cultural heritage Wenchang, won much applause from the audience.
Finally, singers from Beijing and Hanoi and local audiences sang together the popular song "Vietnam - China" to celebrate heart-to-heart friendship between the two peoples, bringing the evening to a climax.
Cultural Counselor Peng Shituan of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, Chairman Wu Kerui of the Shijingshan District Committee of the CPPCC, Vice Chairman Ran Yingjun of the Hanoi National Fatherland Front and Executive Vice President Zhang Mingjin of the Vietnam-China Friendship Association of Hanoi attended and watched the wonderful show.
On June 25 and 26, the delegation also visited the Foreign Affairs Committee of Hanoi City and Long Bien County government, and carried out art exchanges between the Beijing and Hanoi peoples.
