Thailand’s Provinces Seek Further Cooperation with Beijing

On April 30, Zhang Qian, executive vice president of the BPAFFC, met with the delegation led by Dr. Surasitt Singlong, Director of Nakhon Ratchasima Tourism and Sports and chief of Association Institute of Thai Martial Arts (A.I.T.M.A). Liu Yuhong, the vice president of the BPAFFC, was also present at the meeting.

After welcoming the delegation, Zhang looked back on the friendly exchanges with Thailand and expressed great interest in promoting Muay Thai and tourism exchanges between Beijing and Nakhon Ratchasima, and communicated her ideas about such exchanges.

Dr. Surasitt Singlong expressed his thanks for the meeting, and introduced the culture of Muay Thai as well as the tourism and agriculture sectors in Nakhon Ratchasima and Ratchaburi. He expressed his expectation for further Muay Thai exchanges in Beijing and hope for support from the BPAFFC. He also proposed cooperating with the BPAFFC in the tourism sector, and invited the BPAFFC to Thailand for a series of cultural events in June.

During the meeting, discussions were also held on Muay Thai culture, martial arts, and tourism between the delegation and representatives from Beijing Sports Federation and Beijing Martial Arts Administration Center, two institutional directors of BPAFFC, and representatives from World Tourism Cities Federation, leading to preliminary agreement on holding Muay Thai contests and enlisting Nakhon Ratchasima Province into the World Tourism Cities Federation. The BPAFFC also extended invitation of the 2019 “Tai Chi-Beijing” Exchange to martial arts enthusiasts in Nakhon Ratchasima and Ratchaburi.
