“2019 Earth Hour” Light-out Campaign in Home Field Beijing Completed Successfully

On the evening of March 30, the "Connect to Earth" 2019 "Earth Hour" Light-out Campaign, jointly sponsored by Beijing NGO Network for International Exchanges and the World Wide Fund for Nature, was held successfully in Beijing Olympic Tower.

  More than 2,000 landmark buildings such as Beijing Drum Tower, Beihai White Pagoda, Jingshan and Qianmen Street extinguished their landscape light on time. Through the "Earth Hour" campaign, the public was called upon to protect the environment in which we live, and it was a preheat to the UN Biodiversity Conference hosted by China in 2020.

  More than 50 celebrities from all walks of life joined the star volunteer team of theWWF and called on everyone to support the "EarthHour" on the Internet. 

  Ten cultural and sports stars, including Tsing Fong Wu and Wu Minxia, shared their environmental protection actions such as reusing hotel soap, not using plastic bags and not ordering takeout meals, and jointly vowed to practice environmental protection. 
  Zhao wenzhi, President of Beijing NGO, attended the light-out campaign, spoke highly of the environmental protection action and, together with Xie Zhenhua, China's special representative on climate change, presented thank-you letters to the star volunteers. Jean-Paul Paddack, Director of the Network Development of WWF International Secretariat, said that any environmental protection measures in China would play a decisive role in the world.

  Launched by WWF, the "Earth Hour" is the world's largest public welfare activity on environmental protection, covering more than 180 countries and regions and more than 7,000 cities. It has attracted hundreds of millions of supporters to inspire people's sense of responsibility to protect the earth, think about the environmental issues such as climate change, and express their support with concrete actions.
