Chinese Poetry Ambassador Asma invites you to recite Thoughts on a Quiet Night together

Hello everyone! I'm a China-based correspondent for China Arab TV. I'm a Chinese Poetry Ambassador, my name is Asmaa, and I'm from Tunisia. Moonlight knows no borders, and poetry warms the heart. Today, I bring you a simple yet touching classic poem by Li Bai, Thoughts on a Tranquil Night. I present it to our international friends who are living in China and far from home.

Before my bed a pool of light — Can it be hoar-frost on the ground? Looking up, I find the moon bright. Bowing, in homesickness I'm drowned.

As a correspondent living away from home in China, I often miss my family far away. Whenever I look up and see the moon at night, a familiar longing fills my heart. The words of this poem are simple, yet they capture a feeling shared by all. No matter whether you come from the Arab countries, Africa, or anywhere else, a single bright moon can stir up longing for home and families. Chinese poetry does not need complicated words. With just twenty characters, it allows people from different nations to understand the same homesickness. The moon is a romance shared by all humanity, and poetry is the voice of the heart, without the barrier of language.

Make friends through poetry. ECHOES OF FRIENDSHIP. I sincerely invite all international friends in Beijing to join the 2026 Chinese Poetry Recital by International Friends in Beijing. A simple poem can also convey sincere emotions. Let us exchange hearts through recitation, and come to understand one another.
