Spring is now in the air in Beijing. Co-hosted by the BPAFFC and the Changping District People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, the 2026 Beijing International Friendship Forest Tree Planting Event was held in Baishan Town, Changping District, on April 24. Nearly 200 participants including diplomats to China, foreign experts, and international students, from 42 countries across five continents, including Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Guyana, Cabo Verde and Micronesia, participated in the event, helping green up the capital city.
Amid a bustling and joyful atmosphere, international friends of diverse ethnicities and languages worked together with great enthusiasm. With shovels in hand, they carefully dug holes, positioned saplings, mounded soil to form watering basins, and carefully watered each sapling. Over 600 saplings, including the Chinese white pine, magnolia, flowering almond, and crabapple, were planted that day. These fresh green shoots, standing tall in the spring breeze, not only add vibrancy to the landscape of Changping but also symbolize how international friendship takes root through shared effort. When participants learned that the planting site would become part of an upcoming suburban park, many remarked that contributing to the park brings them a strong sense of engagement and fulfillment.
