A Tongan Girl’s Space Dream

Hello everyone, I am Fatima from the beautiful Kingdom of Tonga. My country is known for vibrant traditional dances and the beautiful view of vast oceans. I am very fond of painting and was excited to participate in the 2024 “Colourful World” International Youth Painting Invitational Exhibition. Thank you to the organizers of the exhibition for providing us a platform to express ourselves through art and convey my affection for China with my brush. I have a great love for Chinese cuisine and architecture. I enjoy studying in China, and I love everything about this place.

This girl named Fatima comes from the Kingdom of Tonga, which is situated in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. She is currently studying at Fangcaodi International School in Beijing. She has a passion for exploration and a deep interest in painting and is always curious about the world.

My Space Dream

Fatima received a third prize for international works in the 2024 “Colourful World” International Youth Painting Invitational Exhibition. Her painting titled “My Space Dream” depicts an astronaut on the moon.

Here is what Fatima said about her painting --- “When I open my Chinese textbook, I’m immediately captivated by the fascinating stories and myths from ancient China. It’s like I’ve been transported to the past, witnessing ancient people’s boundless imagination for flying into the sky. Today, thanks to the collective wisdom and relentless effort of countless individuals, what once seemed like an impossible dream has come true. Every time I think of this, a sense of profound admiration for astronauts wells up within me. I am eager to express my admiration for them through my paintings. Also, I’ve made it a point to leave my own mark in the vast expanse of space and realize my own space dream.
