On April 13, the 12th Beijing International Kite Festival and the 3rd China Kite Championship was successfully held in the Four Seasons Flower Fields in Guaicun Village, Wangzuo Town, Fengtai District, Beijing.

At the invitation of BPAFFC, a co-host of the event, more than 80 foreign students in Beijing attended the opening ceremony. These students come from over 30 countries including Pakistan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar, Italy, Russia, Tajikistan, and Egypt.

For most of these foreign students, this is their first ever experience with kites. The students watched professionals flying the kite and joined them, learning about traditional Chinese kite culture from the inheritors of kite art. They also made kites under the guidance of traditional kite makers and flied the kites themselves. Seeing their handmade kites flying high in the blue sky, the students were excited. They enjoyed themselves so much that they stayed until the very end of the activity.

After flying the kites, the students took a tour to the rapeseed field. They had a good time in a sea of golden flowers, strolling around and taking pictures. The foreign students were enchanted by the traditional Chinese sport culture event, which broadened their horizons, strengthened friendship, and promoted people-to-people connectivity.

This event is co-hosted by the Chinese Kite Association, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports, Beijing Sports Federation, BPAFFC, and Fengtai District People’s Government. Jiao Yutong, Vice President of BPAFFC, put the finishing touches to the dragon-shaped kite at the opening ceremony.
