Senegal: Aid Received

On April 27, local time, the Chinese Embassy in Senegal was brimming with friendship. A batch of epidemic-prevention supplies urgently raised by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) was officially handed over by Xiao Han, Chinese Ambassador to Senegal, to Aliou Sall, President of the Association of Mayors of Senegal. The supplies include 30,000 medical masks donated by the Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (the BPAFFC), Beijing NGO Network for International Exchanges and Beijing MINHE Foundation for International Exchanges.

Ambassador Xiao Han stated that Presidents Xi Jinping and President Macky Sall have brought the cooperation between China and Senegal onto a fast track that has led to remarkable results in local cooperation. This donation reflects not only the deep friendship of the Chinese people, but also the high level and new prospect of healthcare and subnational cooperation between the two countries under the framework of China-Senegal comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. China is willing to work with Senegal to further subnational friendship for the benefit of the two peoples and to inject new impetus into the people-to-people bond between China and Senegal.

On behalf of the Association of Mayors of Senegal, President Aliou Sall expressed his thanks for the donation. He said that the assistance from China is timely as Senegal is still suffering from severe epidemic developments. Since the outbreak of the epidemic in Senegal, China has donated funds and supplies for multiple times, providing strong support for the health and lives of the people in Senegal. A friend in need is a friend indeed. Senegal will remember the selfless assistance and fraternal friendship of China.

Sall said that Senegal and China are co-chairs of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and will hold a new session of the forum this year. The Association of Mayors of Senegal is willing to fully demonstrate its bridging role, and work with China to promote subnational cooperation between the two countries, further enhance the understanding and friendship between the peoples, and continuously strengthen the foundation of people-to-people friendship between China and Senegal.
