With Covid-19 raging around the world, Argentina, on the other continent of South America, is in a critical situation. In the past five months, its confirmed cases have exceeded 250,000. Masks and protective clothing are in short supply. Facing the severe shortage of anti-epidemic necessities, Santa Fe turned to us, the Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, for help.

China and Argentina are bound by deep friendship. The BPAFFC gave a quick response and contacted Fengtai District and Mentougou District of Beijing which established relationship with Santa Fe to donate anti-epidemic supplies to Esperanza and Rafaela. To overcome difficulties, both districts coordinated urgent flights and deployed supplies with a total of 25,000 medical masks and 300 pieces of medical protective clothing.

Recently, these supplies have been quickly distributed upon arrival to the local hospitals in Esperanza and Rafaela, which effectively support the frontline epidemic prevention and control.

(With greetings and blessings from the people of Mentougou District, the donated supplies are ready to be sent.)

(Luis Castellano, Mayor of Rafaela, brought the 15,000 medical masks and 300 pieces of medical protective clothing donated by Mentougou District to the Hospital of Rafaela, and inspected the hospital’s response to the disease. He hoped that the anti-epidemic supplies from Beijing can help cope with the current severe epidemic situation.)

(Through the BPAFFC’s arrangement, a delegation from Mentougou District visited Rafaela in April 2018 and signed a letter of intent for cooperation.)

(On July 31, Ana Maria Meiners, Mayor of Esperanza, sent a letter of thanks to the Fengtai District Committee and District Government, stating that the donated masks will effectively support the city’s epidemic control.)

(The website of Esperanza government posted the news of receiving the donated masks, which, together with other anti-epidemic supplies, have been transferred to the SamCo Hospital.)
