“The teaching was excellent, very comprehensive and professional.” “The lecture was practical, thoughtful and timely, and solved many problems we encountered in growing mushrooms.” “This exchange brought up new ideas for our future livelihood,” as the training participants praised. On the afternoon of July 16, the Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (the BPAFFC), Beijing NGO Network for International Exchanges (Beijing NGO), and Beijing Vocational College of Agriculture jointly hosted the Silk Road Community Building Initiative—Online Training on Mushroom Cultivation. The seminar received high praises from overseas participants immediately after its conclusion.

The event was held through video conferencing. Over 80 representatives from Greece, Laos, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal and Sri Lanka participated in the training.

The detailed and concise bilingual slides on shiitakes, oyster mushrooms, and portobello mushrooms made by Liu Jiwei, associate professor of Beijing Agricultural Vocational College, are excellent learning materials for mushroom cultivation.

Su Bensheng, vice president of the BPAFFC, pointed out in his speech that the COVID-19 pandemic did not impair our enthusiasm and desire to promote friendly people-to-people exchanges. The BPAFFC looks forward to cooperating with all friendship organizations in the future.

Li Junying, vice president of Beijing Vocational College of Agriculture, stated in her speech that the college will continue to provide technical guidance and other services to international friends in order to strengthen communication and promote bilateral cooperation.

During the thematic session on people-to-people connectivity of the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, the Silk Road NGO Cooperation Network officially launched the Silk Road Community Building Initiative. As members of the Network, the BPAFFC and Beijing NGO have been proactively promoting the Initiative. The Silk Road Community Building Initiative—Online Training on Mushroom Cultivation has strengthened the bond among countries along the Silk Road.
