On November 9, 2016, the Cultural Exhibition of Photographs of the Pacific Alliance Countries, co-organized by the Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (the BPAFFC), the China Foundation for International Studies (CFIS) and the four embassies of Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru in China, was unveiled at the BPAFFC. Among the over 150 attendees at the opening ceremony were ambassadors of the four countries to China and representatives from the China Society for People’s Friendship Studies (PFS), the CFIS and the International Communication Office of Beijing Municipality.
The exhibition is among the series of events for the 2016 China-Latin America Cultural Exchange Year with arrangements by the Ministry of Culture. The 100 pictures from the four countries present their cultures, folk customs, intangible cultural heritage, history and natural scenery. The exhibition aims to increase Beijing people’s knowledge and understanding of the four national cultures, enhance the people-to-people friendship between China and the four Pacific Alliance countries. The pictures will be moved to the Xicheng District Library for another exhibition after this exhibition at the BPAFFC is over.
At the opening ceremony, Tian Yan, Executive Vice President of the BPAFFC, Shen Guofang, Executive Director of the CFIS, and Jorge Heine, ambassador of Chile to China delivered speeches on behalf of the organizers and unveiled the exhibition together.
The Pacific Alliance is a Latin American trade bloc, formed by Chile, Peru, Mexico and Colombia. These countries have come together to form an area of integration with the purpose of ensuring complete freedom in the movement of goods, services, capital and people, as well as enhancing trade ties with the Asia-Pacific region.
