2018 “Beijing International Friendship Forest” Tree Planting Event was held in TBD Science and Technology Sports Park of Changping District on the morning of April 14. More than 400 people, including foreign diplomats from over 20 countries in Europe, Asia, America and Africa such as Germany, Russia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Colombia, Cuba and Ethiopia, foreign experts, representatives of Beijing branches of international organizations and institutions, and overseas students, attended the event themed “Hand in Hand, Build a Green Beijing Together”.

Tian Yan, executive vice president of the Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (the BPAFFC), delivered a speech on behalf of the organizers, while Till Martin, a German friend who had twice attended the tree planting event, delivered a speech on behalf of foreign attendants. Together, Chinese and foreign children sang the charity anthem, “Hand in Hand, Global Village”, fully reflecting that the construction of a green home is a common dream of mankind. The sweet singing of children pushed the atmosphere of the event to a new high. Afterwards, 20 groups of Chinese and foreign families of parents and children partnered and planted 20 golden stems. The event highlighted the parent-child cooperation, and Chinese and foreign families joined hands to contribute to the building of a green Beijing, and cultivate children’s awareness of environmental protection from an early age.

The “Beijing International Friendship Forest” Tree Planting Event has been held for four consecutive sessions since its launch in 2015. With the philosophy of “Rome is not build in one day” and “making good deeds in good ways”, the base of Beijing International Friendship Forest has changed from the deserted land at the beginning into a tree-lined area today, and has become the fixed place for foreigners to plant trees in Beijing.
