This year marks the 55th anniversary of what’s known as Ping-Pong Diplomacy between China and the United States. To pass on people-to-people friendship between the two countries, enhance mutual understanding and trust through sports and cultural exchanges, and promote the stable development of bilateral relations, the Commemoration of the 55th Anniversary of China-US Ping-Pong Diplomacy was co-hosted in Beijing by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), the General Administration of Sport of China, and the China Media Group. This event was co-organized by the Chinese Table Tennis Association, USA Table Tennis, the US–China Youth and Student Exchange Association, and the BPAFFC. Coordinated by the BPAFFC, witnesses of the Ping-Pong Diplomacy and over 150 young athletes and representatives from the US took a tour of Beijing and engaged in exchanges.
At Capital University of Physical Education and Sports (CUPES), the delegation visited the Olympic Education Museum and the Martial Arts Training and Research Center for International Promotion of Chinese Language, immersing themselves in the charm of martial arts. Later, the Lincoln High School flag football team from Tacoma, Washington, played a friendly match against the CUPES flag football club. Guests from the US delegation, CUPES, and the BPAFFC performed a ceremonial kickoff.
At the Robot Mall, the delegation learned about the evolution and real-world applications of intelligent robots in China and interacted with the robots, gaining firsthand experience of Beijing’s remarkable achievements in scientific and technological innovation and high-quality development.
