BPAFFC and government delegation from Gran Canaria of Spain meet to discuss economic and trade cooperation

On November 25, 2025, the BPAFFC received a six-member delegation of local government of Gran Canaria, Spain. Led by Augusto Hidalgo, Vice President of government of Gran Canaria and Head of Infrastructure, Development, Architecture, Housing, and Transport, the delegation consisted of representatives from government departments of Gran Canaria and members of the China-Spain Business Association.

Zhang Qian, Executive Vice President of the BPAFFC, met with the delegation. Noting that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the

China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership, Mm. Zhang said that the BPAFFC highly values the non-governmental friendship with Spain, and the two have grown ever closer in economic and trade cooperation, youth exchanges, and cultural exchanges in recent years. She looked forward to expanding practical cooperation with Gran Canaria in such areas as economy, trade, infrastructure development, culture, and tourism, and deepening friendship between the two peoples, thereby taking China-Spain people-to-people exchanges to the next level.

Wu Bing, Vice President of the BPAFFC, moderated the China-Spain Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference. The conference was attended by representatives from 13 government agencies, chambers of commerce, and enterprises. Yang Jiaji, Level-II Bureau Rank Official of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, introduced the development of affordable housing in Beijing. Representatives from Beijing Construction Engineering Group, Beijing Urban Construction Group Co., Ltd., Beijing North Star Estate, and Beijing SRDI Chamber of Commerce engaged in discussions with the visiting delegation. The discussions focused on various topics such as urban planning, real estate development, infrastructure development, and scientific and technological innovation.

Augusto Hidalgo thanked the BPAFFC for its hospitality and thoughtful arrangements. He stated that Gran Canaria, a key overseas economic hub of Spain, places great importance on friendly exchanges with China. The vice president lauded Beijing’s successes and strong commercial capabilities in the fields of affordable housing and infrastructure development. Stressing the enormous potential of cooperation in urban development between Beijing and Gran Canaria, he hoped that both sides could take this visit as a new opportunity to deepen cooperation in areas such as infrastructure, housing security, transportation, and logistics. He also expressed hope to establish a regular communication mechanism to facilitate project implementation, and expand exchanges in cultural and youth exchanges, thereby injecting fresh vitality into the China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership.
