Recently, the BPAFFC received the visiting delegation of the Tokyo Japan-China Friendship Association led by its Vice President Naru Saito. The delegation consisted of 10 specialists in the fields of eldercare services and nursing. This visit was intended to implement the important consensus reached at the Sixth China-Japan High-Level Economic Dialogue on strengthening practical cooperation on eldercare services and nursing and fostering the silver economy. It also aimed to deepen non-governmental friendship and exchanges between Beijing and Tokyo. The delegation took field trips to eldercare institutions and nursing facilities, and participated in meetings to discuss new paths of cooperation on the silver economy and facilitate practical cooperation on how to cope with population aging.
Exploring cooperation paths based on industry practices
Eldercare services empowered by technology
On November 2, the delegation went to Beijing Jinweijie Sci & Tech Development Co., Ltd. in Haidian District, which is a specialized, high-end, and innovation-driven SME that provides distinctive products or services. The delegation learned about the company’s 26 years of technological expertise and service experience in the eldercare sector. At a meeting hosted by China Architecture Design & Research Group (CADG), attendees from China and Japan engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as age-friendly renovations and improvements for communities and homes, and the standardization and professional development of wellness stations. They also shared mature experiences and innovative ideas to find new common ground for cooperation in the wellness industry between China and Japan.
Community-based eldercare services and eldercare institutions
On November 3, the delegation went to the Bajiao Subdistrict Eldercare Service Center in Shijingshan District and Sunshine Care House, a five-star eldercare institution, to learn about the community-supported home-based eldercare service model. At a seminar, the Shijingshan District Civil Affairs Bureau of Beijing Municipality introduced the work on eldercare services in the district. Officials from Guangning Subdistrict shared experience in community-based and home-based eldercare services, and representatives from Sunshine Care House Group and RealMan Intelligent Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. presented case studies focusing on eldercare institution operations and the development and application of smart eldercare devices. Members of the Japanese delegation gave an overview of the operations of special nursing homes, group homes for elders with dementia, and adult day care centers in Japan. They also shared experience in the development of eldercare institutions and end-of-life care services.
Coordinated industry development
The delegation visited the Beijing China-Japan Innovation & Cooperation Demonstration Zone and the Beijing Go Global Hub for Digital Enterprises to explore cooperation opportunities in technology application, market expansion, and other fields in the silver economy.
Cultural tours enhance mutual trust
In addition to industry-specific exchanges, the delegation also visited the special exhibition “Beijing Central Axis Through the Lens” and Shougang Park, immersed themselves in Beijing’s hutong culture, and experienced firsthand Beijing’s unique charm blending tradition and modernity.
A new chapter of institutionalized cooperation
The BPAFFC and the Tokyo Japan-China Friendship Association signed a memorandum of understanding on friendly exchanges for 2026, paving the way for future cooperation. Jiao Yutong, Vice President of the BPAFFC, attended the event.
