This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and the 120th birthday of American journalist Edgar Snow, a lifelong friend of the Chinese people and proponent of China-US friendship. On October 10, the BPAFFC, the Central Conservatory of Music co-hosted the Harmony of Friendship: Beijing-Kansas City Musical Exchange. Renowned saxophonist and composer Bobby Watson and his ensemble from Kansas City of Missouri, Edgar Snow’s hometown, performed alongside faculty and students from the Central Conservatory of Music. Together, they paid tribute to the dear friend of the Chinese people through the universal language of music. This event was co-organized by the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League of China.
In the golden autumn of Beijing, Chinese and American musicians came together to celebrate peace, convey hope, and find common ground through music. The event not only honored the legacy of Edgar Snow but also enhanced the enduring friendship between Beijing and Kansas City, striking a beautiful symphony of China-US friendship.
Founded in 1974 Kansas City of Missouri and in honor of Edgar Snow, the Edgar Snow Memorial Foundation is committed to cultivating deeper friendship and enhancing people-to-people bonds between China and the United States. It is an important partner of the BPAFFC.
