On September 22, Jiao Yutong, Vice President of the BPAFFC, met with a Vietnamese delegation led by Nguyen Ngoc Ky, President of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO). The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on how to advance practical cooperation and write a new chapter in enhancing friendship.
They reviewed the enduring friendship since the establishment of cooperation in 1997. Over the past 20-plus years, the two sides have carried out a variety of exchange events, including exchanges on Taiji, cultural performances, and youth science camps. These diverse events have fostered closer ties between the peoples of the two cities, laying a solid foundation for cooperation between the two sides. Noting the high industrial complementarity between the two cities, Jiao Yutong pointed out that Beijing enjoys prominent advantages in high-tech industries, and Hanoi has specialty agriculture and enormous manufacturing potential, so there are broad prospects for cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, and science and technology.
Nguyen concurred, saying that Hanoi has always valued its friendship with Beijing. He stressed that cooperation between the two sides should keep pace with the times, and the two should not only continue to serve as a bridge in traditional areas but also work to bolster practical cooperation between the two cities.
The two sides also agreed to nurture youth friendships through multiple communication channels, so the bond between the two cities will take root in the hearts of the next generation and be passed on from generation to generation.
During their stay in Beijing, the delegation paid a visit to the Dongcheng District People’s Government of Beijing Municipality. They discussed various topics such as cultural heritage protection, urban management, and international exchanges on education. The delegation also took a tour of the Longfu Temple commercial area.
