Japanese Friends Try out Self-driving Cars in Beijing

On the morning of April 15, Beijing High-Level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone (BJHAD) welcomed a Japanese delegation led by Mr. Tamotsu Okamoto, Advisor and former Chairperson of the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR). The delegation learned about Beijing’s self-driving vehicle industry and took a test ride on self-driving vehicles.

In the exhibition hall of the Innovative Operations Center, staff gave the visitors an overview of the construction and development of BJHAD, and introduced the application of autonomous driving in multiple scenarios such as public transport, logistics, and sanitation.

Then, the visitors got on an bus empowered by connected intelligence with great interest and had a taste of the autonomous driving technology.

Mr. Tamotsu Okamoto described the trip as really rewarding and looked forward to visiting Beijing again to get hands-on with other cutting-edge technologies.
