The BPAFFC and the Beijing Institute of Cultural and Historical Research held an exhibition of traditional Chinese paintings jointly with the Malaysia-China Friendship Association in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The exhibition was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia and the 2024 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-People Exchanges.
Dato Abdul Majid Bin Ahmad khan, President of the Malaysia-China Friendship Association, gave a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony on June 30. He said that people-to-people exchanges are a vital pillar of Malaysia-China relations. He also expressed great interest in the themes of traditional Chinese paintings, saying that they embody the harmony between humanity and nature.
Ping Xiaodong, Level II Division Rank Official of the Beijing Institute of Cultural and Historical Research, delivered a speech on behalf of the institute and the BPAFFC. He introduced that the 36 paintings on display epitomize Beijing’s natural scenery, folk culture, and development in the new era, and the exhibition aims to make Chinese painting and calligraphy better known to people from all walks of life in Malaysia and give more people a taste of China’s fine traditional culture and the friendliness of the Chinese people.
Chang Shan, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, attended the opening ceremony and cut the ribbon for the exhibition.
During the event, Chinese painters and calligraphers from the Beijing Institute of Cultural and Historical Research engaged with Malaysian painting and calligraphy enthusiasts in a lively atmosphere. Face-to-face communication and interactions gave them a memorable experience and brought them closer.
Wang Gang, an expert of literature and history at the institute, also gave a lecture on the history and development of Beijing’s central axis.
The participants said that this event further increased their understanding of Beijing and China. Many attendees stayed after the ceremony eneded, enjoying the paintings and studying the profound themes reflected from those works of art.
