BPAFFC Attends the Second China-Türkiye People-to-People Dialogue on Friendship and Cooperation

On May 17, 2024, the Second China-Türkiye People-to-People Dialogue on Friendship and Cooperation was held in Xianyang City of Shaanxi Province, with the theme of “People-to-People Diplomacy for a Global Community of Shared Future.”

High-ranking officials who addressed the opening ceremony were Xu Xinrong, Chairperson of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Jiang Jiang, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), and Ali Oguzhan Yüksel, Director of the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center in Beijing.

Some 100 people attended the Dialogue, including chiefs of seven provincial and municipal people’s association for friendship with foreign countries and representatives of relevant organizations, as well as chiefs of five Turkish associations and organizations. Jiao Yutong, Vice President of BPAFFC, attended the event.

Speaking on the topic of “enhancing people-to-people exchanges and cementing public support for bilateral relations,” Jiao gave an overview of exchanges between the BPAFFC and the Turkish side and said that the BPAFFC will further promote people-to-people exchanges between China and Türkiye, and give full play to Beijing’s role as the main channel, primary center, and main force in people-to-people cooperation. He added that the BPAFFC will take the opportunity of the Dialogue to better plan cooperation projects, pool quality resources, strengthen youth exchanges, and do its part in enlivening people-to-people and local exchanges, strengthening the friendship, and promoting people-to-people bond between the two countries.

Guests present at the event had an in-depth exchange of views on various topics such as how to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and promote Belt and Road cooperation. They spoke highly of the Chinese-Turkish relationship and the achievements in Belt and Road cooperation, and agreed that the two sides should collaborate more closely to strengthen people-to-people exchanges, improve the dialogue mechanism, strengthen mutual understanding and friendship, and advance exchanges and cooperation at the local level and in such areas as culture, education, tourism, and youth, thus contributing to the development of the Chinese-Turkish relationship.

The China-Türkiye People-to-People Dialogue on Friendship and Cooperation is an important communication platform launched by the CPAFFC. The inaugural edition was held via video link in August 2021.
