Dato’ Abdul Majid Ahmad Khan, President of Malaysia-China Friendship Association, and former Malaysian Ambassador to China, visited Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (BPAFFC) on May 16. Zhang Qian, Executive Deputy Head of BPAFFC, and Jiao Yutong, Deputy Head of BPAFFC, extended warm welcome to the delegation headed by Majid.

The two sides reviewed friendly exchanges between the two associations and extended acknowledgement to each other for their important contributions to deepening China-Malaysia friendship. They also reached consensus on advancing friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in various sectors in the future.

The two sides said that China and Malaysia are very close to each other in terms of geographical location, cultural background and ancestral ties, and have formed an enduring friendship. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-Malaysia comprehensive strategic partnership, and 2024 will be the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries. The two sides should join hands and leverage resources the two sides have accumulated in youth exchanges, education, and technology to organize more tours to China and Beijing for young people from Malaysia amid efforts to promote bilateral friendships.

Majid said Malaysia and China share the same aspiration, common interests and frequent people-to-people exchanges. The two associations have organized a variety of activities and events for people-to-people exchanges over the years. In September this year, Malaysia-China Friendship Association will host the 14th China-ASEAN Conference on People-to-People Friendship Organizations. Majid hoped that BPAFFC takes part in and greatly supports the conference, and the two sides organize people-to-people exchange activities and events related to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China.
