On January 6, the Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (the BPAFFC) welcomed a delegation of postgraduate students from Columbia University, United States, most of whom were visiting China for the first time and were full of expectations for the trip.

Now let's check it out!

Mme. Zhang Qian, executive vice president of the BPAFFC, said she was very happy to see the young faces from Columbia University on the same day of the first snowfall of the year as a Chinese saying went, a timely snow was token of year of harvest. The delegation was so impressed by what they saw in Beijing so far and asked a whole bunch of questions like the successful experience of the Beijing Olympic Games, post-Games uses of the venues and the challenges faced in Beijing's economic and social development. Mme. Zhang Qian, in her charismatic way, shared her views on these subjects by explaining to them the solidarity of the Chinese people, the rigorous and forward-looking planning, and Beijing's strategic positioning, among others. Her candidness and sincerity won respect from the hearts of her audience. They found her remarks enlightening and thought-provoking, bringing each other’s hearts closer. Mme. Zhang Qian encouraged them to obtain deeper insights into China's development and make friends with young Chinese, so as to cement public support for China and US friendship.

During its stay in Beijing, our organization facilitated the delegation’s visit to Beijing (Haidian) Overseas Students Pioneer Park and Tellhow Sci-Tech Co., located in Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area. The delegation found both visits very cool, which helped them getting to know Beijing’s youth innovation and entrepreneurship, business environment and energy technology enterprises.
