Tian Yan, executive vice president of the Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (the BPAFFC), met with a delegation led by Anthony A. Williams, former mayor of Washington D.C. and chief executive officer of the Federal City Council of the USA, on October 22. They had cordial and friendly talks. Tian Yan briefed on people-to-people friendly work of the BPAFFC with the USA and expressed her will to further strengthen people-to-people friendship with the USA. Mr. Williams said he gained better understanding of the latest development of Beijing through the visit and hoped to boost cooperation with the BPAFFC in the future.
The delegation was invited as guest speakers in the International Forum on Urban Governance of Capital Cities, which was held in Renmin University of China on October 20. During its stay in Beijing, the delegation also visited the headquarter of the Export-Import Bank of China and Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall as arranged by the BPAFFC and had discussions with heads of the two units. The delegation visited the 77 Culture Park, Qianmen Sanli River Reconstruction Project, West Damochang Street Reconstruction Project and the Capital Museum, through which the delegation learned about creative-cultural industry of Beijing, achievements of old town redevelopment as well as the history and folk customs of the city.
