On June 26, a youth environmental protection delegation of 33 members organized by the Busan Foundation for International Cooperation (BFIC) visited Beijing for exchanges. Su Bensheng, vice president of the Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (the BPAFFC), met with the delegation.

Su Bensheng said that since the establishment of the relationship between the BPAFFC and the BFIC in 2012, the two sides have made active contribution to strengthening their friendly cooperation across all fields. The BFIC sent relevant experts to attend the Beijing International Forum on People-to-People Friendship held every two years by the BPAFFC. A youth culture and arts delegation organized by the BPAFFC in May this year visited Busan and participated in the “Global Gathering” international culture and arts festival. With fruitful results, such exchanges played a positive role in continuously promoting the people-to-people friendship between China and ROK.

At the meeting, the two sides reviewed the cooperation and exchanges between the BPAFFC and the BFIC and explored for more such possibilities in the future. Su Bensheng made positive appraisal of the cooperation achievements in fields such as youth, culture, economy and environmental protection. He expressed his hopes to further promote the people-to-people friendship between Beijing and Busan and strengthen people-to-people ties between the two countries. Head of the delegation Kim Hyun-young talked about why they organized this visit. She hoped to enhance the awareness of the Busan youth about internationalization by arranging more Busan youth delegations to visit Beijing. This would enable Chinese and ROK youth to have more mutual exchanges on common concerns, such as environmental protection, science and technology, entrepreneurship and culture. Such exchanges would enhance mutual understandings and friendly relationship between the two cities and between the two countries.

During their stay in Beijing, the delegation invited relevant officials from the China-Korea Environmental Cooperation Center to deliver lectures on its operation and China’s environmental policies. From June 28 to 29, the delegation will visit Kubuqi Desert, Inner Mongolia for a desert hike and tree planting activity there.
